MINING REPORT.

! Mining' matters ■ fib hew ! feutm© thia week. The sale of goldhas teen,. slightly . better than in previous weeks. Where water is obtainable from the races the paddooks afre steadily hashed as soon as they are filled, and then the process of filling is again begun.: We hear of one claim giving 64 ounces for three weeks ■ work. > Actually/our weeks had elapsed since the last, washing but there was some work, outside of regular mining, to be done which caused' the extra delay in filling the paddock. On the line between the terrace and the race,, beyond Dillman’s, several claims have bottomed on gold with good prospects. At the Larrikins the fluming is not yet 1 completed, the heavy weather daring the past week having considerablv delayed the work. On the Shamrock-Lead steady work is going on, and the claim holders appear to be satisfied with thei r prospects. On the other side of the ' river we hear of no new rash.. The claim next the Prospectors in Quinn’s Terrace is expected to wash up next week. A claim nearer the river which washed up this week gave fair results. Close to the Greenstone road, and among the tents at the new township a party of Welshmen are working the surface. The gold is extremely fine, but gives from two to three grains to , the dish.
