The brig Emily Smith, from King George’s Sound to Adelaide, was wrecked last month near West Bay, Australia and 2l people drowned. Four Chinamen and a woman were saved. Three of the men arrived at a station and reported that the other man and the woman were endeavouring to make their way to Cape Borda in an exhausted condition. The vessel went , to pieces five minutes after it stnuck. There were also five children belonging to passengers, with the captain, his wife, and four children. The cargo consisted of sheepskins and timber. The vessel had been out fifteen days when she struck. An unsuccessful auitor in Chancery has been sent to prison, for throwing an eg" at Vice-Chancellor Malins in Court.. The BishopofDurham has voluntarily* given fifteen, hundred pounds of his. annual income towards the netv of Northumberland. • . The barque Hadda, 316 tons, from the Lacepede Islands- bound to Freemantle, iwas wrecked cm the. eastarpu group of Abrolhos- qn April 30. All hands were saved.
