WESLEYAN CHAPEL.
On Sunday last at 2.30 p.m., and. 7 p.ra., the opening services of the Wesleyan Chapel, in Third-street, were conducted by the Rev. Mr Harper, of Kumara, Mr Bull, of Greymouth, who was to have preached the opening services, having been prevented from coming by the flooded state of the rivers. The rev. gentleman took for his text in the afternoon “ Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto youand in the evening, “ I say unto you, likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth more than over ninety and nine just persons who need no repentance.” His discourses were attentively listened to, and appreciated by good congregations.' The singing, which was conducted by Mr E. E. Green, was excellent. Miss Hardley presided at the harmonium, and performed her part admirably. Mr Stewart and two young ladies from Stafford Town choir, besides other ladies and gentlemen of Kumara, also rendered very valuable assistance. The collections for the day amounted to seven pounds.
