Learmonth & Co., Hokitika. It is proposed to form the above Company for the purpose of purchasing all the promoters rights to the Oknkn Water Race and Prospectors’ (Oashman’s) Race, Claim, Tools, -etc. It is not intended, at present to nail np the whole of the Capital, as the cost of the works now decided on will not exceed £7358 including the interest given to the promoters and the purchase of the race, etc. A sufficient margin will thus be left to meet any requirements that may in future arise for the extension of the Company’s operations. The detail survey and estimates of the Okukuf Race have been carefully completed byE.J. Lord Esq., and he reports, that by the construction of two reservoirs, one in Bell’s Creek, and the other in the Okukn'Creek, that a constant supply of at least fifteen Government heads of water can'be depended on all the year round, which can'be broughtinto the prospectors’ race below the upper dam at a cost of LSISB Ids 6d giving with the present supply of the prospectors’ race, a constant supply of twentyfive to thirty Government -heads of water, throughout the year. ■ • ■ The promoters have purchased all the rights held by the prospectors in connection witb their Race, Dams, Claim, etc.,At Knmara, and thus secured a most "valuable property, und one that yields an immediate return to the Company, the present revenue/of the race alone being estimated at -an average of L 35 per week. The claim itself is df considerable 'value, and ■can slither be worked by’tbeCompany or disposed Of, as 'overtures have already beemnade to the promoters, for'the purchase of It at a satisfactory price. The Company wifi have a'great Advantage in bringingin this 'extra supply into the Kumara gold- ; field, -as they are : already supplying a large number of claims with the Prospectors’ Race, which’only requires the additional water supply that the ’Gkuku Race will give to make, it one'of the best paying investments -on the 'Coast.
The Kumara gold-held is now so thoroughly and extensively ’developed, that tor years to some the supply of water that will be at the command of file 'Company must ensure a large revenue. Applications for shares will be received up to S ATIJRD AT, tbeJSeventh of April, at hp.m. As there are only-»-limited nunjber of shares to be applied for, early application is necessary, as priority of application will be considered in allotting the shares.
