It is proposed to form the above Company for the purpose of purchasing all the promoters rights to the Okuku Water Race and Prospectors' (Caahman's) Race, Claim, Tools, etc. It is "not intended at present to call up the whole of the Capital, as the cost of the works now decided on will not exceed £7558 including the interest gi fen to the promoters and the purchase of the race, etc. A sufficient margin will thus be left to meet any requirements that may in future arise for the extension of the Company's operations.
The detail survey and estimates of the Okukufßace have been carefully completed by E. J. Lord Esq., and he reports, that by the construction of two reservoirs, one in Bell's Creek, and the other in the Okukn Creek, that a constant supply of at least fifteen Government heads of water can be depended on all the yea? rounjl, •which can be hroughtinto the pTOSpectois' race below the tipper dam at a cost pf L31581&3 6d giving with the present supply of the prospectors' race, a constant supply of twenty'five tos&irty Government heads of wpter, throughout tie The promoters have purchased aft 'tie rights held by the prospectors in connection with their Race, Dams, Claim, e'tc., : a£ Kumara, and thus secured a most vainable property, and one that yields an immediate return to the Company, the present revenue of tharace alone being estimated at .'an of L 35 per:week.' The claim itself is of'cdnsiHerable Value,'" and can either be worked by the Company or disposed of, as overtures have already been made to the promoters for the purchase of it at a satisfactory price. The Company will have a great advantage in bringing in this extra supply into &e Kumara gold-field, as tbey are already, supplying a large number of claljn*; with/ the Prospectors' Race, "which only requires the additional water supply that the Okruku Rice will give to make it one of the best paying investments on the Coast.
