This (Friday) evening about 20 people met in Scott’s Hail, Kawbis, to discuss how the Hon. A. W. Hogg was to be entertained. Cr W. J. Shaw presided, Mr Sircombe offered to cater, and the offer was accepted. A committee consisting of Messrs Shaw, T. Hamilton, Pettit, K. Tbe weather on Saturday la&u was very nice, but the attendance at tbe Farmers’ Union Picnic at Awaroa was not very large. The reason of the sparse attendance was on account of the ra’i thac fell the day pre\.ously. Oparau turned out in force, Awaroa was fairly represented, but not a t.ngle Kinohakuite was present Cricket and other games were indulged in, wh 1 a lengthy football match between the Awaroa and Kauri teams was played. Settlers met and exchanged views, others discussed the shed at Opaaau, whilst some lookad at sites for sale yards. There were refreshments provided (we do not know who by) but they were nice aud thoroughly appreciated.
