* (from a CORRESPONDENT. ! A meeting of the settlers of Waerengahou (Kinohaku) took place at Mr James Kearns’ res; snee on Saturday last, Gtb inst, to diicuss the proposed erection of a privale telephone line. It was decided ti pu; up a line from the Kiuobaku P.js. Office to the louthern end of the Whakapiraa road. Mr Douglas Smith was appointed sec•etary, and was requested to make the preliminary preparation! for the work, and to Cfili a meeting at a later date when all necessary committees will be eDcted.

The advantages of such a line are innumerable, and it is that all settlors on the route will do tbeir ut most to promote the same, In spite of statements to the contrary, set-tiers who were present at this and several other meetings are genuine’in their desire to have this portion of the Kawhia South district served 1 with telephone communication io common with the various other districts around the harbour, and with that end in view the following, up to the present, have deposited the sum of £1 with the secretary -.-—Messrs J A. Biddick. W. Mitchell, J. -Kearns, R, E. Lankey, Alf. J. Barrett, C Aunger, -James Barrett, W. Douglas Smith and D. M'Donald.
