Spring tide is the proper time for sboo'iog ku=ika, which ore present Lore in gr?at nnrnbsrH this season. One day «bis w»ek Messrs Morgan, Bubbaae, Newton and Morrief bagged ov‘-r 100.

A lovely line of pretty blouses, laces, insertions, ties, muslins, voiles, zephyrs (striped and plain), belts, etc., co. Just the very articles for the ladies. Where ? At Jonathan's of course.'

The other morning Mr W. Morgan noticed that hii dinghy was missing and lator ou picked it up at ■be Op irau Head". The people who had it were thoughtless enough to

A movement is afoev. to held a regatta, etc, in Kawbia in May, and uliesdy ’'.bout £25 has been collected, ft is, we believe, intended to hold a three days’ carnival. ■ Mrs Swan, i f Ruar ike (one of Ka whin’s first resident*) ’s at presebc on a vi-.it here, being a guest of Mr and Mrs E. D. Hamilton. Miss Gibbison is accompanying Mrs Swan. The fence across the. bay in Kawhia is proving its utility and the bunk there is making splendidly. We hear that further work of a like nature is to be undertaken shortly. There is every probability that tbe proposal to erect sale yards at Te Rm-a-moa will be given effect—in fact the settlers there are so sanguine of rhe result that already the question of tfae site is being discussed, and by one or two rather heatedly too. What about cope and saucers, tea plates, barter dishes, ->ugar basins, i Oike dishes, dinner war toilet seta, '• candlesticks, linolenm, curtains, quilts, , art muslins, cretonnes. Well * where can we procure beet articles at lowest cost ? Why Jonathan’s I Didn’t you know that ?* As notified in our last issue there is likely to be an increased supply to the To Rau a-moa Butter Factory next season, the settlers Inere being so eati fiod with the good results achieved this year. At tba present time Mr J. A. Ormsby hai placed an order for a milking maehio*, and it is probable that others will fellow suit.

A hand milking match was recently got off on a farm near Traralgon, Gippslaud, by two men. In order that the contest should be perfectly fair it was made a condition that the cows should belong to a herd that neither of the comport tors had been accustomed to milk or handle, and it was iho stipulated that the cows should be milked one morning by one of the contestants, and the next morning by the other. Twenty cows were put in the bails. One of tbe men milked 15 in 1 hour 1 min., and the other took Iflsecs. longer to milk the same number. Every cow had been milked very clesm.
