Last Friday week, as tbe Kawhia mail coach was proceeding along the road near Pirongia a Maori rushed out from the side of the road and attempted to hit the horses with a piece of timber. Mr Stewart reported the occureuce from Te Rau-a moa to Gonstable M‘Carthy, who communicated with Constable Lander, of Te Awamutu, who went to the place named and arrested a Maori and charged that person with being insane.
