County Elections.
A COUPLE OF SURPRISES. Contrary to anticipations there will only be two contests in the Kawbia County, thu nomination of the candid dates mentioned for Waibarakake and Paharoa—Messrs Uaylock and J. Kearns respectively—n it being accepted, therefore Messrs W. J. Shaw and J. P. Wright have been declare! elected unopposed, as also have Messrs Babbage and J. E. Noonan for Awaroa and Te Kauri. From Kawbia Cr Jonathan is being opposed by Dr Jenkins, and a close contest is anticipated, though for various reasons, ths numbar ot vote? recorded will be very few There are four candidates for Mafako bai. three residents of Oparau, and one of Ts Mata. There is no diubt that Cr Nort n has been a g >od member, and Wu fed that he is worthy of reelection, ware particularly as he represents a parti ju of tbe County which is practically unknown to other councillors.
