The Maoris undertake to sell to the company the timber on 10,180 acres and to give an option oyer 19,285 acres upon a royalty of £lO per acre. Tbe company undertakes to construct a
railway forty miles long, from Kakabi station on tbe Main Trunk line, to Lake Taupo, tbe Maori owners eo route to sell sufficient land for tbeline at £1 per acre. Tbia must be completed within five years, and be gauge has to be that of tbe New Zeafend railways. Il is provided in ths proposed egreement that tbe Company shall pay a minimum of £5OOO p.r annum in respect of royaliies whether or not a sufficient amount of timber has been cot.
