From Minister n Lindf, notifying that 1 rood 38 ijercbas, seedpn 1, block Vltl, Kiwbi.i Township ,(near Rosamond Terrace) had bean reserved as a site for G ivemmant Building!.— : Received. From Mesirs Green Jade and Jennings, M/hP., staling they would do all they could to have mistakes revaluation rolls remedied.—Received.

From Valuer General, in reply to the letter written relative to the discrepancies in the Valuation roll aud map, as follbws:—“I may say that the matter has never been brought before me. and had the C.ounty Clerk applied to the Department to prepare the roll for the special'district, as is usual in such cases the difficulty with regard to the description of the lands lying within the rating area would not have occurred, and the expense which vrtiis incuried in obtaining plans from the survey office w >uld have been avoided. It is not to be expected that uuy valuation roll will always agree with the map, as changes triode in the areas and descriptions of the properties are not immediately carried into' the roll. 1 have examined the treasury file relating to the matter, and it would appear that there has been considerable delay from various causes, which are I thing all more or less attributable to incorrect procedure on the part of the former county clerk. Now that the matter ba? been brought under my notice I will endeavour to satisfy the Treasury requirements.”— Received.

From Commissioner of Crown Linds, stating that it had bssn reported that the cemetery site at Oparau was not suitable for the purpose, and asking if there was another reserve more so.—Cr Armstrong said that only native land was available—Left in the hands of the Commissioner.

From County Association, asking for subscription for the year.—To be paid. From Valuation Department, ata ting that the sum of L 165 16? 31 be ing subsidy on L3Bl 12? 7d rates collected for the year 1907-8, had been 1^4 id into the Council’s account.—Re ceived.

brom Super intendant of Electric lines stating that as the bond for the Marokopa-Kinobaku telephone had been received duly signed, instructions had been issued for the erection of the line to be put iu band as soon as p.*actioapla.—Ur Jonathan said that if the Council ciuld do anything tu hurty the work along it would ba wise to do so. The Nukubakarei mill intended putting in a private line and if the Marokopa line was not completed that frule might be lost.—The Chairman said that it would uot be possible to cart poles along the road for at least another month. He had promised Kiritehere to push the work along, but thought the poles would not be required for a month yet.—Cr Jonathan thought there was a tendency an the part of the Government to aeiz* any opportunity of delay. He moved that the clerk write to the Department setting forth the conditions.—The mo tion was seconded by Cr H Shaw and carried.

Bard, District Roads Engineer, forwarding list of people •* Kiaobakn who had pigs running on the road, and asking that notice be served to them compelling them to keep the animals off, as much damage was being done.—Cr Babbage Mid that the nuisance should be stopped. The question of keeping other stock off the roads would also have te be faced very soon.—lt was decided te notify that persons allowing pigs to wander on the road would be prosecuted. riNANCIAL. The Uhairman said that the Crown Lands R mger had been sent to see the road complained of and reported that the thirds had been spent judiciously. The money had all been spent and the Messrs Van Houtte must remember that the road they used further along bad to ba kept iu order. Or Norton promised to have the oor« nets attended to.

After asking a few questions relative to the expenditure of the loan the deputation withdrew. GENERAL. Cr H. Shaw having stated that there was likely to be an alteration in the sizs of the shed to ba erected at Lemon Point, Cr Babbage gave notice of motion tbe.t the motion on the subject be rescinded. The Council expressed the wish that the settlers .interested would put their proposals in writing before next meeting. The next meeting was fixed for Saturday, November 6th. It was decided to call tenders for contract No. 4, workon £ha WaitetuuaAotea road, to close at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 6th. Cr Jonathan pointe! out that the bay in front on the township was for reclamation purposes, and on his motion it wa-» arranged to erect a mmuka reclaiming wall across so that a start would be male with the work.

In reply to an equity it was ®»ted that Mr Buckeridgs had been asked to prepare a scheme for surveying the bay, but so far had not done so. It was authorised that notice be sent to Taui Wetere to remove fence erected on the beach as the land wm the property of the public. Tenders were received from Jordan and Co., E. W. Buckeridge and G. Whitoombe for surveying the Harbour Endowments. That of the latter tot £l2O, was accepted.
