In more serious vein is Dr Fitchett's story of tho Black War in L’asm ima, in which ho tells with graphic effect, the tragedy of a jorished race. Among tho sp -cial illustrated articles three or four standout prominently, They are: “How I Maks’Em Smile,” in which Mr Barclay Dtimuion, whp is now touring Australasia,tells the secret of successful fuomakiug “Deep Sea Diving," by W. A Somerset. being a collection of stories and photographs tn illustrate tho dangers and the rewards of submarine work ; “When tho Crowd Goes Home,” which Charles Natalis charming little impressions of New York. Dr Fitchett gives his usual mistoily review of the history of the world, and sums up th • month's dofpgs under ou” own skies in ohiraoterietic fashion. The regular departments, covering literature, science, sport poetry, business, humour and politics, are so filled with bright, useful, up-to-date matter as to make “Life” almost indispensable to the average man or woman. it is interesting to note that the close of a picture -puxzle competition is announced.
