Awaroa.

0 (from our own correspondent./ The heavy r tin lately has made the road* very heavy, and now they are worse than they have been any time through the winter. Lambing is now in full swing everywhere and according to reports so far there are good percentages. Two launch loads of natives and pakehas went from Awaroa and Rakaunui last Bunday to Te Maika on a fishing excursion, and although, there were about 60 excursionists ou board, mostly armed with ihe ntcessary fish ing paraphenuliii, only two fish were caught, but one and all had an enjoyable time, although the experiences of getting home in the middle of the night were not of the pleasantest. I hear there are two candidates likely to contest the Kauri Riding seat at the next election, viz., Mr J. Noonan and Mr Whitcombe. It is to be hoped the Kauri settlers will put in a member who is residing in the riding and get-at-able, not as they did last time, put in a member who was never in the Kauri Riding and did nothing, got nothing spent, and did not even know the settlers wants, from the day he was elected to the present time. This will happen again if the settlers are not alert. It behoves every settler to vote for a man who has the interests of the riding at heart—-not one who has absolutely no interest in the riding. The Kauri Riding settlers had one severe lesson, and I think once bitten twice shy should be their motto this time. The best mon in New Zealand is no gond to 1 epresent set tiers on a Council unless he is tbor oughly in touch with them and knows their wants. Vote straight out for ; Naonan and you will have a good man ! to represent you.
