(Special to the Settler ) Wellington, Thursday, Tbo Rihae Potae electorate ha* come ou lop in regard to rotes for roads and bridges, and Mr Jeuniugw, M.P , has been congratulated by members- Tbe allocations under the beading of backblock reads total as follower—To Kuiti North, £24,650; Te Kuiti south, £24,146 ; Wanganui portion Robae-potae, £30,660. In addition tbe same districts have ordinary votes totalling £24,019, £19,444 and £15144 respectively,*tbe amount tu OjjtQ np roads on Crown Lands are as follows :—Te Kuiti North, £4781 ; South, £2802 : Wanganui, £8659. When questioned the Premier informed Mr Jenninge that all authorities would be issued to District Engineers as soon as the amount* were applied for.

Iu Public WoHw Statement reference ia made to a trial survey of a line from Kawbia to Main Trunk Line, which is authorised.
A stffn of £950 is on the estimates, for a Post and Telegraph office at Ta Kuiti, and £2500 for new aooomodatiou house and improvements at Waitomo Oaves.
A petition presented by Mr Jennings, on behalf of nearly 200 residents of Taumarunui, was considered by the Lands Committee, and their recommendation was to the effect that remedial legiulftuon to remove tbe existing unsatisfactory state of the law as applied to Maori townships be brought down by the Government and passed into law this session. This U an important recommendation, and if given effect to any legislation passed will have an important bearing on town-stup-j like Te Kuiti, Kawhh, Utiku aud others.
