At the Hamilton Horse I3«ziar on August 4 and 5 wo held a special horse sale and < 28.5 b- rtes. Heavy draught horses were not in such go>d demand as earlier in the year; hacks, light harness and active medium •draughts sold well. Heavy draught geldings, £35 to £4O; aged heavy draughts, £23 bo £27; go jd class me dium draughts, 4 and 5 years old, £3O to £35 10s; horses of same class but lighter weights, £2l 10s to £27; good backs and light harness horses, £l5 to £22 10s ; cobs and light hacks, £5 to £lO.
At Obaupj on Munday, 3rd inst,, we held cur usual fortnightly stock sale and annual dairy cow sale. We had a very large yarding of cattle, 860 head of all descriptions; fair competition and prices fully up to those lately ruling, with the excep ion of calves aad yearling*, this class being slightly lower iu vJu-r. The dairy cows and ueifers were a g > *.d lot, but io m.-c cases rather out uf condition, and nothing effect* the sale of dairy stock more thau this. Bast c >ws, £5 10= to £7 17s 6d; others, £5 downward; best heifers. £6 to £7; u’har?, £3 10< to £4 10s ; 164 sold; 122 bullocks off turnips were required ; ho e in forward condition made fr m £5 7s 6d to £6 16s; more backward sorts, £5 ; well bred 2 yr-old store steers, £3 10* to £3 17 61 ; 18-mos. steers, £2 17* 6d to £3 2s 61; good calves, up to £2 2s 61; empty cows, £2 to £2 15s; bulls and stags, £2 10s to £8 ss.
