The following additional i etm wore dealt with at tbo last meeting of tbo Kawhia County Council AN UNFINISHED ROAD Cr Nortun mind : “ Tiiat tho Conucil write to Mr Gr -eubLd , MP, asking him to do hi* best to have a sum of £6OO placed on the estimates to complete the four mile* of road which would connect tho Wai’etanaAo ea road with the Wa tetun a Valley road.” The mover remarked that this was a most important work as it would save the settlers in tha» locality many mile?. The motion was seconded by Or Armstrong and carried. A GOOD SUGGESTION.

Tbe Chairman remarked that ibe Government in‘ended to expend ab»ar £750,000 on roads, and as the were not subsidised he though*- *> should apply for a share. If any county wa® deserving of help the X - whia County was, as the übe acles that were met were very great. He ea. geated that a ;raot be asked for widening tbe main roads. Cr Babbage thought that the roads it was proposed to metal should be mentioned as it would show that th* people were prepared to help themselves. The Chairman thought that it was a mistake to ask for too much and <hat only the most urgent work® should be mentioned. The Maboenui Kawhia road was worthy of a •nbetential grant, as it not only wa® tbe way oat to the sales but it also beuefitted the whole of the country that lay beyond. There was also three miles of native land nearest to the harbonr to bn roaded.
