THE MAROKOPA TELEPHONE.
(TO THE EDITOR.) Sib, —I have read with interest the correspondence re this very necessary work. If the settlers look to their own interests they will pull together and put up the line—a few grumblers and discontents do much harm. Oparau is ahead of Marokopa, as not only is there a public telephone, but all the material for a house to house line was arranged for at one meeting, showing that where people are patriotic enough to sink petty differences for the good of all and are of one mind no trouble is experienced. I know Chairman Shaw as a man whose wish is to help bis fellow settlers, and if all were actuated by the same spirit we should have no exposure of petty ill-feeling such as has been written re Marokepa telephone. Get to work boys! Writing and talking won’t erect the line.—Yours, etc., OUTSIDER.
