TO THE NEW SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
(to the editor.) Sib,— May I suggest to the new school committee the necessity of pushing forward the important subject of swimming. In this most-favourably situated district there ought not to be a child above the toddling age unable to take care of itself in the water. There are on the committee gentlemen who aae popular with the boys, thoroughly able to teach the art, and I am sure teachers for the girls would not be wanting from among chose ladies who take such deep interest in providing entertainment for the young. As> the controllers of education have not as yet seen their way clear to devote any school hours to this subject, and in order to enforce discipline, superyision would be neocessary, if the teachers were approached they would most .likely voluntarily help in the matter.—Yours, etc ,
