LOCAL BODIES.

(to the editor.) Fib, —We have a County Council, and why should our money be further wasted by Government road works. The roads laid off iu the best available places by experienced surveyors, have been altered by the Government road inspectors. For instance Oparau to Awaroa, altered by Mr Barron ; Oparau to Oparau Ferry road taken up a hill, where there was nou for it yet everyone knows that a good flat was there to put an up-to-date road on. There are plenty more instances. What we want is for the Government to quit making roads, and subsidise the Counties. We all know that County Councils, composed of farmers get more work done by 85 to 50 per cent that the Government, so why further waste the public money.Yours, etc., VERITAB.
