The match’ oalls for very little dtoCi iption, that b ?ing done when it is said I bat Oparau were too good in every department of tho game for their opponents. The triei were ee cured by H. MAROKOPA V. KAWHIA AND OPARAU COMBINED. The above match was* played at Kawhia this (Friday) afternoon, and revolted in a win for the latter by six points to nil. Moke and F. Atkins scored. Mr E. Falwasser gave satisfaction as referee. The following notesfon this popular pastime will be read with interest, and no doubt amusement: —

°A football match, Oparau v. KaWbia, was played on Maria Edward's paddeck, on Saturday, at Oparau. Oparau was too well trained for Kawbia, The onlookers cheered the footballers, wbo kicked each other (sometimes the ball). One player got kicked on the stomach which laid him out. Football is all right for non-players to stand and yell, “go it, Kawhia; Oparau, ” etc., but bow misny get made useless and bow many are killed every year ? It is at best a mug’s game. There is no honour in hurting each other, and it is now not in the spirit of this time, and should be, like bull fighting, wiped out. If one man is’killed who is to blame ? The other players, and where such injuiy is possible the fun can only appeal to the most cruel, un thoughtful, unkind and morbid intellect, as no up-to-date,' honest, educated, kind-hearted person, wbo has the welfare of mankind at heart would for a moment approve of a game of this description. It is a game to be played by those who either don’t take the trouble to estimate tbe probable damage tn another or who are incapable of understanding. Just remember ibis : give out courtesy, kindnes 3 , patience and good will, and you will get them all back with comnound inlerwt”
