Kawhia Town Board.

OBDINARY MEETING. The usual meeting of tbs above body was held in Mr Newton’s Office on Monday morning last, when there were present—Messrs Jonathan (in the chair), Turrell and Falwasser. DRAINAGK. Mr Todd forwarded cheque for rates on section, and enquired what the ad jacent section holders were doing in lhe matter of draining their properties. The Clerk stated that there wero o her property owners who bad not replied to the B lard’s request to drain their sec*ions, and it was decided to again Write to those interested. LAMP LIGHTING. The Ch lirman announced that he had made arrangements with Mr J. Falwasser to light the street lamps at £5 per annum, which action was agreed to. STREET REPAIRS Cr Turrell draw attention to the holes in Jervois Etreet which were a disgrace to the Board. The Chairman said that arrangements had been made to have the work done, but the person who had undertaken it was very hard to move. KAWHIA LOAN. The clerk was instructed to write to the County Council as to the real posi tion of the Kawhia Loan. THE CEMETERY. The Chairman said that he bad a talk that day with Cr. Scott,relative to the Kawhia cemetery, who suggested that it should ba vested in the Board. He (the speaker) thought so too, but as their financial position was weak it behoved them to be careful. Arrangements had been made for the C >uuty Council to grant £25 per year for two years ; the first year had been paid and if the balance was granted the cemetery could then be taken over free | of debt by the Board.

It was decided that the Chairman interview Dr C. Campbell Jenkins, and get the mrtter put before the next meeting of the Kawhia C mnty Council.
