Farmers’ Union.
AWAROA BRANCH. The annual meeting of the above was held on the 29th ult., Mr Babbage occupying the chair, when there was a fall meeting, A resume of the last year’s work was given by the chairman who reported a very successful year. Mr W. 11. Reynolds was elected as a member.
Tbe balance sheet showing a credit of £1 3s 101 was adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year :—Chairman, Mr W. E. Anderson, Mr W. D. Humphreys, auditor (re elected) and Mr H Babbage, secretary (re-alected). The subscription was fixed at ss. The delegate representing this branch at tbe provincial Conference is to be asked to support the remit, “That the Farmers’ Union form a separate Political party, and run its own candidates.” Messrs Anderson and Brandon were appointed a committee to draft a peti tion ro road matters. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded last year’s officers, and also to Mr and Mrs Babbage for having the meetings at their house,
