OPARAU BRANCH A meeting of the above was held on Saturday last, 25th inst, MrW. Sobye presiding. The balance sheet was presented, read and adopted. It was reaalved that a meeting be called for May 9tb, to discuss °the ageudf paper and tbe new rules. A letter was read from Mr Bowater (opposition caddidato for Taumaruuai electorate' which the secretary was authorised to acknowledge. The following officers were elected for the enduing twelve months: Chairman, Mr Sobye; deputy chairman, Mr A. Armstrong; secretary, Mr Mackenzie. The outgoing committee and auditors were re-elected. It was proposed by Mr Bell, and seconded by Mr Sobye:—“That the secretary be requested to communicate with all the branches of the Farmers’ Union in the Taumaruuai electorate relative a candidate for the next general election.”—Carried. A vote of thanks to the retiring officers terminated the meeting.
