THE TOWN LAMPS.
(to thb kditob.) Sib, —l was very pleased to notice last Saturday night that the town wtg illuminated by the new street lamps and I must say that it is a decided improvement. The following morning I inspected the lamps in daylight, and my delight of the previous evening received a severe reverse. Only oue of the lamps looked st all well, the other two being smoke stained, the globes broken, etc. I wonder what is the cause of this? Were they left alight too long, or are they unsuitable ? I would ask he members ot > the Board to go intc the subject at once, and during the period when we are blessed with moonlight nights, ao that when darkness again prevails th* lamps may be all ready to do what they have been erected for—Youwu etc., “ THREE LAMPS.”
