Oparau.

(FROM OUR OWN CORBBSPONDIST Grass sown on big fire burn in bow ap, whilst the weather is suitable for making bare places grow. D inibonis, in my opinion is tbe best fern graM, in unprocuaable in New Zealand, so that paspalum and other hardy grasses are being used.

Some Government seed has oome, but valuable time has been lost, and there ia general .dissatisfaction regard* ing the action of the Government ia not stating definitely at once what tenure was to be supplied with seed. Considerable loss through delay has resulted as the seed necessary to sow some areas burned is not procarable in the Dominion now. It would have been better if Government had aof offered to supply seed, as they are distinguishing m to who ah ill get it, maxing it unprocarable to any who eao get it themselves. Many expected to get better seed from the Government and have lost valuable time, m late sowing won’t give toed until spring.
