Kawhia Medical Club.
The annual meeting of the Medical Club was held in the Coaneil Offices on Saturday evening last, the attendance being email. The Hon Secretary reported that only 27 residents had qualified for membership last year, as against 50 tbe previous year. The Chairman spoke very indignantly iu reference to the great falling oft in the membership, and urged that a fresh effort be made by those who did their duty, to increase the support of i those who were not doing so. The doctor was a great benefit to the district aud it would be a calamity to lose him. He (the chairman) believed that great numbers of people would be pleased to subscribe if they were only asked to do so, and in the other hand many people that it was not necessary to thus support tbe doctor, as be was now here and would not be likely to leave. This wa had no assurance of and we could not too severely criticise any argument on that basis. It was decided that a scale of doctors fees be tabulated, which would show false economy on the part of non subscribers.
It was arranged that subscriptions be same as last year, viz., 20a for beads of family and 10s for single tickets.
Mr Babbage was re-elected chairman and Mr Newton Hon. Bee.
