The above gathering took place m Friday Let, and favoured with fine weather there was a large attendance, visitors being present frem Kawhis, 1 Piroagia, Oparau, Awaroa and other i places. A liber’l programme had been presented, and excellent nominations received, the contests be<ogkeen. The officials are tv be congratulated on their efforts to keep things going, bat we would advise that another year officials be asked not to compete. A booth on the ground ran by the Ormsby Brothers was well patronised, and tbe supply was not equal to the demand. Owing to the new gambling restrictions betting was not allowed, but a nest of “spoilers" were present, and wished to commence operations. Tbe police would not allow that, but as soon aa tbe two constables had departed a start was made, axd good badness resulted. There was only one hitch daring the day,—starting in the boys chop, which did not give the small boys the remotest chance. The children had a particularly happy time, the president having sent along a lot of toys which were eagerly competed for by the rising Appended are the results ; 1. 120 Yards Hubdlks, over 8 flights of hardies.
