Christmas Time.
The holidays in K’*wbii district were ipent in ratbee a quiet manner, as no gathering had been arraeged. On Christmas Eve the town was very busy, »nd it is particularly pleas ing w report that tbe business done was in advance of the any previouyexr. Toe n got was not very invit ing as rein Lfr steadily, making the roads in rather a sloppy state. quenriy there were not so many peopbin the street as would other wire have been tbe case. Tbe windows of tbe steres were decorated in becoming manner, several of the verandahs being illuminated with lanterns of varied design aud colour, a few of the resi. dences being likewise decorated, Christmas Day, 100, was wet, and most of the residents spent a quietday at home, some even sleeping after a hearty meal. However, one party braved the el msnts, a pkasant little trip being arranged to Oparau by Mr and Mrs Newton, which was very much ‘“D a - The Rev. C.
