Awaroa.

(fBOM OUB OWN COHBKSP iXDBNT.)

Stock are still lenving rhe distrust iq large nam bars for the Wiiksto market, and it is very noticeable that they are nearly all wall grown bullocks. I noticad a line of 70 leaving Awaroa today belonging to tbe settlers of tbj valley. Also another line of 80 wellgrown bullocks from F. Pearson left for tbe Obaupo scle. Stock are all looking well at present and it is very satisfactory to note that bullocks from tbe Kawhia County have topped the market several times already at the sates in tbe Waikato this spring. Both cattle and sheep show quality and the old saying is that half tbe breading is in tbe feeding. The weather is still all that esn be desired, aud if it continues so, we should get good burns this season. At tbe present time, although oniy November the bush is drier than it has been in previous years in the middle of summer. A fair number of men are employed on the various roads in the district and with the fine spell of weather it is poe« sible to get along without fear af braaking your horse’s leg or perhaps your own neck, although even now there are a few very bad places which require attention. 1 notice on the Government eatimates a fair amount of money f »r the road’, and it is to ba hoped that >t will be spent early in tbe summer iu order to give the newly formed portion a chance to settle down before next winter. Road formatted iu winter is both costly and useless and as tbis is tbe usual time the King Country roads and tracks are form d, reader< wh >do not have to travel ou them, can draw their <wn conclusions.
