Kawhia-Hamilton Road.
Mr A. 8. Mountfort. Government surveyor, is at present at Waite tuna with his staff ou road survey w >rk. His home is st Kiwhia and he has a good knowledge of the country lying between there and the Wai pa in tha Moeraagi Bieck, and oiaridars that a road could be formed, easily c instructed and of easy grade that would bring Kawhia witbia 85 miles of Hamilton. Mr Mouotfort has had extensive experience ia road work —especially ex ploration—and considers that if authorised, make tha exploration ia about two weeks, and the advantages and possibilities of such a road m ist be apparent. The setders at Kiwhi*, Te Mata and this side of the M lerangi Block are going to try and get the Minister for Lands to authorise ths trial survey and we understand a similar request will be forwarded to hsadqu a tiers by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. The road will run from the proprosed bridge over the W aipa at Karamu thencs up the valley of the Kaniwhaniwa and will strike the Moerangi Block seven miles from that bridge. It only moans tha formation of 20 miles of new road over easy Country, and will open up-a large area of rich and valuable timber land which should have b?en thrown open fir settlement long ag?.—Waikato A •■gas.
