(from our own cobrbspondent. Three days fine last week ; one hard frost took the tops off early potatoes. The late rains have kept back garden growth and been bard on young lambs. Lambing is about over and the percentages will be tally ap to the asaal average. Messrs Trougbton brought a line of fat oittle from the Waikato last week for Mr Jeoklin. Fruit trees are in blossom with a healthy show of frail. Growing fruit should pay here if understood. Ploughing for oat* has been delayed by tbe raiu, bat only 10-acre 10's are being sown. The small birds are very busy eating tbo wheat eown. They prefer it when it sprouts and then they root it oat. The county council should make bird destraction compulsory. A farthing per head would interest tbe boys, and check this pest. Mrs Tai Hauaara, who has been ailipg for some time is now better. The Kiwbia iuflaensa cold has not troubled Opirau. Ik we have an opposition steamboat we must haye one wnh passenger accomodation. Wo have no road out let, and if the Northern O’, j-bbed how conld wo get to Auckland and elsewhere ?
