Wouldee has soured the c»« - tract for carrying tbe moil at £5O per annum, tbe Postal Department c ;ntributing £3O and tbo 8 £2o. A post office has been opened at Marokopa, Mr 0. Marcus postmaster. Mr J. Wouldes will still ba postmaster at Kiritehere. The machinery for the sawmill at Marokopa arrived by tha s.s. Bjthesay last week. As a number of logs have been brought down the river cutting will soon be in full swing. A concert and dance is to be held at Marokopa on the 16ch inst. in aid of the school building fuud-s and is likely to turn out a grand affair, as we have plenty of local talent. Tbe following committee are attending to the arrangements—Mrs Willison, Messrs Hargreaves, Reader aud Laue. SETTLEBS’ ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the above Association was held at Marokopa Heads on July 15th, Jlr Gregg being in the chair. The Secretary (Mr P. Rose) was instructed to write to the Minister for Public Works and request that grants for tbe following roads be placed on the forthcoming estimates : —To complete the Waipawa road and the road from the Marokopa heads to Kiarimu; Kiritehere Valley road; Maungakokopu road; to finish road communicating with the railway, so as to enable settlers to get stuck in; aud also tbe erection of the Marokopa bridge. The following settlers were appointed cemetery trustees —Messrs 8. Rose, P. Klein, M. Kinnaue, J. Willison and J. Wouldes. It has been decided to have a portion of the cemetery reserve cleared and fenced. A school committee, c insisting of the fo’lowing housaholder?, was elected —Messrs J. Willison, J. Wouldes, S. Rose, Reader, Tamarauga, M G.-ath and Rayner.
