(By Telicgeaph.) (Special to the Settler ) Wellington, Thursday. Mr Greenslade, M.H-R-, haa presen ted te the Minister for Public Works a la gely signed petition from Mr Percy Rose and others, urging the of placing a substantial vote on the es iimates for road work in the Kiritehere and Marokopa districts. He also inter viewed the Hon, Mr McGowan to-day ntid obtained the promise that tbe m itter would receive careful cousiderati.»n when the estimates were under consideration. The Noxious Weeds Bill of Mr R. Mackenzie had tbe whole of yesfcer day’s sitting of the House again devo ed to it. The discussion ranged ro i id whot portions of the Auckland Provincial District it should apply to and no actual progress was made. It is an open secret that the Bill is being used as a means of blocking other measures emanating from private members farther down on tbe order paper. The chances of the Bill passing and throwing the responsibility for clearing away noxious weeds from the roads on to the laeal body are, however, infinitesimal.
