(By Telegraph.) (Special io the Settler.) Wellington, Thursday. Contrary to expectations the financial debate collapsed last night. The House is therefore free to begin the real work of the session. It is probable that the question of land legislation will come up for discussion next week. An interesting discussion is taking place in the House this afternoon in committee of the whole, on Mr R. M‘Kenzie’B Noxious Weeds Bill. The law at present require? the property owner to clear the weeds from half the width of the road opposite his section. The Bill proposed to revoke this provision aud throw the responsibility upon the local body. At a previous session an amendment was made restricting the application of the Bill from the Nelson Province. This amendment Mr M'Kenzie has agreed to accept. Mr Bollard, however, moved to also include the Auckland Province, aud at the time the telegraph office closes the matter is being discussed at length,
