Oparau.

(from our own correspondent.) The fallacy of forming portions of road instead of metalling the worst places is now painfully evident. The money spent has been for this year practically wasted in shifting clay instead of gravel or metal. A decided difference of opinion exists as to whether the Oparau shed is to be at the ferry or Oparau. Oparau suits us here, but the ferry suits the coach road and ferry road towards Kawhia. Is there money to build a shed at each place, or have we to find our own thed and wharf ? The bridge is a good honest job and is about finished.

The Hon M’Nab is to let us know shortly after inquiry, whether the native land nt Oparau landing ca> be resumed or surveyed for a town site. At present we have no place for our goods. The land is natiye and we intend to have a township somewhere and soon, either at the ferry or Oparau. Working men must have homes, and want sections for a hou«e, garden and fowl run.
