». he annual oot.ference of members of the ab\oe ( held in Auckland last week, the following matters brought forward by branches in this district were dealt with:— FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FARMERS, The following motion was moved on behalf <>f the Kinobaku branch by Mr Tynan : That thia branch desire* the Provincial Conference to discuss way* and means of financing small fanners, siiniliarto agricultural banka established by European nations. None of the delegates were acquainted with the details of the agricultural batiks referred to, and it was decided »o refer the matter back to tho Kinobaku branch, with a request for it to'coilect all information available by the meeting of theguext Conference. REPRESENTATION ON THE LAND BOARDS. Mr Shaw moved : That the Crown tenants have power to elect . member o' the Land Board for their district, in the Course of the discuesion i f was urged by one speaker that all the mcmbtrs of Laud Boards should be Vlected by (he settlers, but against this it was pointed out that it was only right and reasonable that the Government, as the owners of the Imd, should protect themaelves by retaining the power tc appoint at Post half the members. The motion was passed in the foliow iug Jorm : That in the interests of Grown tenants it is dtenable that at least one half of the members of tho Land Board should be elected by the settlers. RATING OE UNOCCUPIED LANDS. The following remit from Kinobaku whs affirmed on the motion of Mr Shaw That the Loans to Local Bodies Act be amended so that all unoccupied (native and Crown) load in any special rating area shall become rateable from the date of occupation.
