(to TUB KDiTOB.) Sib,—ln your la . issue th? re appeared a letter, signed “ J.; seine,” in reference to the p< 4c >o ; grain’procured by the Cuau y C uncil I would advise the farmers against wasting too much time endeavouring to abate the small bird nuisance with the above. For the benefit of the un enlightened I will give my experience of it. Learning that the County Council were supplying the grain I applied and theelerk gave me sms I took it home and scattered some on , .sacks. The few birds that were about j took to it readily, and I naturally thought it wouid kill them. I kept supplying grain for ab >ut a week, but saw no dead birds ; instead of a few birds hundreds came. Noticing one fine fellow minus some feathers I fixed my attention, on him. After seeing him gorge for a few days he seemed to be growing more plump and cjuLented, the grain supplied evidently agreeing With him. When last seen he was for grain, and my seif for results waiting.
