A large number of potato crops in the Master ton district have been destroyed by potato Wight. One settler has bad nearly three tons destroyed, and several other settlers are heavy losers. Th© blight that has affected the turnip crops at Fernridge is said to be similiar to the blight that affected the turnip crop a few months ago at Portobello, near Dunedin. Make sure of gathering your potato by spraying the plants with ShaklaNd’s Potato Blight Exterminator. It ie the surest safeguard yon can have blight.* ■ ;

The Raglan County Council are evidently going to test the existing Native rating legislation, and have decided to take a case to the Supreme Court. If unsuccessful, the Council will then put the position before the Minister and ask for relief. As this county has so much Natiye land within its boundaries it is a very important matter to the ratepayers generally. The Exhibition, from its educational aspect, is held up to our admiring gaze, but from the very first it has been less exhibition than of water chute, the aerial flight, O’Neill’si buck jumpers, the House of and Katzenjammer Oas e. These have for a longtime been the attractions, and it will be readily agreed th at there is less that is educative about these things than there is of the sensational.—Oamarp Times.

The. North -Main Trunk would be completed, and four smaller lines, the Riverdale Swlizers, the Hokitika-Ross, (ha Mdant Kgtnont branch and the Blackball Ngahere, would be off the bands of the Public Works Department. The Cabinet would consider the advisableness of stopping other lines at present under construction at convenient points. A very large part of the public works expenditure would therefore be released and rendered available tor other purposes. The Department would be thus enabled to proceed much more rapidly than in the past with the works remaining in hand. At the present time sixteen lines were under ■ construction, and there were twentythree separate works.

After a wearisome daisy, word has been received by tbe Kawhia County Council re the loans, but we regret to say that the information is not very good. The Waitetuna-Aotea loan has been granted, and so have the Kawhia and Awaroa-Mahoe, the former being reduced by £l5 and the latter bl £3OO, owing to errors in making up the interest. The Pirongia West, Okupata and Mahoenui-Kawhia loans will have to be advertised again, owing to half rates having been struck, which is illegal. In another column a meeting of Oparau ratepayers is convened for Saturday, April 20th, to discuss the matter. [We shall probably refer to this subject again.]

Spray, spray again, nud skill spray your potato plants with Sharlano’s Potato Btiaiir ExrEitMiNAToti. It may be a little trouble, but ijt will pay you when you come to dig your crops,*
