It is proposed to build a hall here for various uses, particularly for the purpose of holding dances and public meetings, as it is thought that accommodation to be obtained at the present rime is not sufficient for these purposes. Scott has been asked for his ' of the dost of the proposed building, and returns same at £6l odd, This is a reasonably modest sum, and there ought not to be much difficulty in raising that amount, for What wifi undoudtedly prove to be a public benefit, if not a public necessity.

There was a picnic organised for Eister Monday but owing to home mis* understanding re the launch and also as to where the picnic was-to be held, 1 good number stayed away. I wish to state that each and ail were ignorant of the sports at Oparau when this excursion was arranged for Rakanui, However, those who did go.thoroughly enjoyed the days outing and expressed themselves as well satisfied with their experiences at Oparau. Another event of no less importance to Ihe mothers at least took place on last Friday at Mrs Boott’s residence, when the younger generation had a £ala day.
