Kawhia Town Board.
ORDINARY MEETING. The usual meeting of the above body was held in the Ceuacil Chambers on Thursday evening Last, when there were present—Messrs Scott (in the the chair), Turrell and Falwasser. The Minister for Tourist Resorts wrote relative to protecting the pohutukawn trees. There had been no money apportioned for the work, and if the Board was unable to do it full particulars should be sent to the Minister of Lands.—Clerk to attend. A lector was read from the Minister af Lands staling that enquiries were being made as to the advisability of vesting Ba. Ur. 6p. near the townahip in tie Board ad a hospital site.—Re ceived. On the motion of Crs Scott and Turrell it was resolved:—That the clerk e.pply to the Government to have a new valuation of the Town District made for rating purposes, as the present valuation is much too low. If was decided to open an account in the National Bank of New Zealand in Auckland. Cr Scott brought forward the que«tion of endeavouring to obtain the freehold of the native townships, and it was resolved to co operate with Te Kuiti and Otorohanga in the matter. A lei.gthy report (which will appear next Issue) on the drifting sand, prepared by Mr A. J. Mountfort, was received from the Auckland Lands and Survey Department. It was agreed that the urgency of the case and the report be brought before the Minister of Lands when he visited Kawhia.
