Sir, — Referring to tho statement that the Government intends to die’ conticue tho subsidy to Dr Jenkins, of Kawhia, for medical attendance on the Maoris, it may be interestiug to recall tbe fact that when New Zealand was granted responsible government, tbo Government of New Zealand undertook, among other thiug.->, to spend a certain sum annually on supplying medical attendance for the Maoris. Perhaps they will send a pseudo tohunga to Kawhia.—Youre. etc , F. W. MACKENZIE. Wellington.
