Kawhia Medical Club.

The annual meeting of the above club was held in the Council Chambers on Monday evening, when 1 the members of the Council (who are the trustees), Dr Jenkins and the secretary (Mr J. K. Newtek) were present, Mr W. J. Shaw presiding. After the minutes had been read and confirmed, the secretary read the balance sheet, which showed that 58 members had contributed £5O 2<i. The expenditure was £49 108, leaving a credit balance of 12s. The balance sheet was adopted. On the motion of Messrs W. fhiw and Babbage, a vote of thanks was accorded to Dr Jenkins for acting as medical officer to the club.

The Chairman remaiked that their time had expired and a now committee would have to ba appointed. Mr Babbage thought that their actions had given satisfaction.

11 was thought that it would be a good idea to enlarge the committee, and it was eventually resolved that the members of the Council act as a committee, assisted by the following gentlemen—Messrs T. B. Scott, K. Barron, W, Morgan, E. C. Stanley, P. C. Bose and J. Randall,

It was decided to issue tickets, the same as last year.

Mr A. W. Babbage was appointed chairman for the ensuing year. Dr Jenkins agreed that the charges be the same as last year, .£1 for married men and 10s for bachelors ; visits to members were fixed at 7s 6d in the country (means of travelling co be provided), and 6s in the township.

On the motion of Crs W. Shaw and Army strong it was resolved, “That the secretary write to the Postmaster-General asking that Dr C. Campbell Jenkins be allowed to have his room connected with the Kawhia Post Office by telephone.” The meeting then adjourned.
