Kawhia Town Board.
The election for members df the above body took place on {Monday, but was not responsible for a great amount of excitement. There was a good muster outside the Council Chambers about 7 p.m. when Mr J. K. Newtpn announced that Messrs M’Cardle, Turrell, Ealwasser, Scott and Jonathan had been'elected (details will be found advertised elsewhere). Messrs M'Cardle, Jonathan and Fa! wasaer tr’efly returned thanks, the latter remarking that he hoped it would not be long before ho would hove the privilege of asking their support in the election of mayor. A vote of ‘hanks to the returning officer was passed by acclamation. Although nominated. Messrs Ward and Turnbull withdrew, the validity of their nominations being doubted, but Mr Morgan, in the same'po;v.ion, want to the poll.
Tho first meeting of '.he newly elec ted Board will be held in tbc County Office on Monday evening next, at 7 80 p m.
