Kiritehere.

(from our own correspondent.) The weather has been bright and warm during the past six weeks, and settlers have been very busy gardening and putting ia crops. The potatoes planted by the natives at Taharoa are looking well, there being no appearance of blight. Vegetables are looking well, whilst grass is showing a good growth. Stock is in giod order. Cattle continue to be brought in, the latest mob being 100 head broughi from the line to Mr Vicary’s section. Bush felling is still going on. Mr Newsham has started ta fall 200 acres at Tirua Point, whilst Mr Hamilton has just let 50 acres. Messrs Bell Bros, and Ross started their ffax mill ou the 15:h inst., and have good prospects of having a large output tbis season. The construction of tram lines and roads was attended to during tbe winter.

There is a likelihood of Messrs ; Smail and Parker erecting their flax mill here very shortly, negotiations for the delivery of the .machinery being now in progress. There is every indication that the Northern S.S. Go, wiil put a boat ou the coast trade. 4 * Tbe auxiliary ketch Kotahi has during the past six weeks run six tripe between Waitara and Waitara, landing about 80 tons of goods. This boat has been quite a boon to the setdera here. Application has been made to the Board ot Education for the appointment of two travelling school teachers —one for Te Maika and Taharoa, aud one for Marokopa and Kiritehere.
