THE COUNTY'S BYE LAWS.
(fo AHE ILDH-Jil ) Bib, — Can y< u give any information as to whether ri.e Connty Council has yet framed the bye laws. 1 am afraid they have uot. lt> is usual for a newly constituted I -cal or < tber governing body to pay attention to this particular department at tbeir earliest opportunity. Sairit-alioD is one matter that requires attention, for, as it is at present, many people simply ignore the possibility of an outbreak of an epidemic of disease, which will undoubtedly visit tbe township unless more care is exercised. Another very important matter is ibe taxing of pedlars, hawkers, cbeapjacks and other nuisances that may impose on a gullible public and be a menace to the welfare, in a measure, of the district generally. This is a class (f trade that is not clearly legitimate and should not be brought into play against bona fide business men, who do pay their rates and taxes and live amongst us as a respectable type of citizen, without referring to bribery to gala trade, or corruption in tbe shape of traehy goods. In older established districts than ours the pedlar nuisance is a great one, and I think it would be wise of tbe Council to impose a license fee that would keep this class cf scavenger out of tbe place.—Yours, etc., REQUIESCAT IN PACE.
