Mr Joseph Slater whilst in the act oi crossing slipped and fell into the river, a distance of 30 feet, striking bis bead in tbe descent, which bad the result of partially stunning him. There was a flood in th* stream, Mr Slater being carried down a good disrance. Messrs M‘Chesney and E. Forbes went to tb* rescue and brought Mr Slater (who was in an exhausted state) safely to the sbor*.
