Pirongia.
(FlOlt OUB OWN i»MUaSPONDI!II.) On Friday night, Bist ult., a plain and fancy dress ball in aid of the Public Hall funds was held ia tbe hall and was one of the best functions ever held in Pirongia. Tbe hall was nicely decorated for the occasion with evergreens, ferns and festoons of flogs which gave a splendid effect. Quite a number of young people attended in fancy costume, one and all looking very well. Mrs Geo. Barry, of Te Awamutu, supplied tbe music on the piano, dancing being kept up tdl an early hour in ths morning. I hear that about £8 was taken altogether. The weather during t v e put fortnight has been simply idea! fur the farmere, every one of whom appaar as busy as a bee.
