THE RAINFALL.
(to the EDITOR.) I Su, —In your iRSue of the 6th inst. you give the local rainfall for the month of June. Ar one most interes ted in the •* genial ” climate of New Zealand (Kawhia in particular) I should like to know how the e di crop ances occur, viz , there is n > mention of rain which fell in Kawhia on th 11th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 28 r h aud 29cb of the s-id month ? I keep a r»c »r<l of the d ya on which rain falls he-e, and maintain that if meteorological reports are to be taken let them be accurate. It is, sir, these inaccurate weather reports which get into p t and are circulated all over the w >rld (England in particular) which ka'< people in search of a health-restoring climate tn come to these shores, only to fipd chai they have jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. Jlic iliac lychrynuie.— Yours, etc - , ARTHUR F WILSON. P.S.— At the time of writing (July 9th) there has not been a day without rain in Kawhia since June 20th. [Our correspondent has good reason for complaint against the Clerk of the weatberifor* the way we have been treated since the beginning of the month, but'not, t we venture to think, against our humble effirts to record the said Clerk’s vagaries. The guage ’on the days mentioned by Mr Wilson recorded no rair.'all (perhaps the r. u missed it for spite!), was quite dry in fact, an in dication we are sorry to say of the state of other liquid things in Ka whia just now. Tenet taku tanyi.— Ed. S.i
