The Loans Proposals.

At Monday’s 1 meeting of the Kawhia County Council, the following resolutions, passed at meetings of ratepayers held on the previous Saturday, were handed in : Waitetuna-Aot'ft Road—That a poll be taken to raise a loan for the Waitetuna Aotea road. Pirongia West Road—That a poll for the loan on the Pirongia Vest road be taken. Mahoenni-Kawhia Road—That the Chairman of the County Council be asked to take a poll of ratepayers for the loan on the Mahoenui-Kawhia road. Awaroa-Mahoe Roa-I—That the Chairman of the Kawhia County Council be called upon to take a poll of the settlers of the Awaroa Valley on the loan proposals as advertised in the Kawhia Settler, in respect to raising a loan of £2500 for making roads in the Awaroa and Kauri lidings. Okupata Koad—That a survey b» made and estimate of cost be obtained for the formation of a 16-foot road, from the boundary of ihe" Maori land to the Pirongia West road, and the metalling of the road as far as funds will allow (on the assumption that the amoant of £3500 will be available! •q tne paua that most require metal, and that it is extremely desireable that extensive deviations from the present road should be made, in order to avoid the awkward, wasteful and dangerous curves which occur upon it, and thus : scare a shorter road, safer for traffic, lew expensive to meta' and keep in repair. It w&s decided to take the polls desired oa Saturday, 21st inst., as advertised else wherein connection wifh the latter proposal, it was pointed out that any other portion of the County could apply for that amount. Cr Jonatnau said that when th* loans were first proposed he refrained from applying on behalf of the Kawhia Riding, so that (he country ridings should have full benefits, but as one ioan was lapsing would make upp'licatisn at the next meeting.
